Certificate of Judgment Liens

Praecipe for Certificate of Judgment Lien is to be used if you have a judgment from a case in the Jefferson County Common Pleas Court.

If you have a judgment from a case in our Court, it is $5.00 to prepare a certificate of judgment lien form.

 

If you have judgment in any court in Ohio including this Common Pleas Court, you must get a certificate of judgment lien prepared by that Court. You can then record it with our office for a fee of $30.00.

Instructions on how to file a Foreign Certificate of Judgment Lien:

The following paperwork is required to file a certificate of judgment lien from any court outside of Ohio:

1. Praecipe for filing a Foreign Judgment.

2. Praecipe to issue a Notice of Filing.

3. Affidavit for Foreign Judgment.

4. Exemplification or Record, Certificate of Judgment Abstract.

5. Triple Seal

6. Filing fee of $30.00.  No personal checks accepted.

7. Address of Defendant for notification.

8. Name and address of original Court in which judgment was obtained.

 

Only the law firm or individual filing a certificate of judgment lien can release it.
